Dragon's Den 2008!

Young people face Broxbourne’s dragons!
Wow what an amazing Dragon's Den event.
Get Connected were absolutely proud to be part of this great challenge.
Young people presented Dragon’s Den style pitches on 24th October 2008 to Broxbourne business leaders as part of an initiative by Watford & District YMCA and Hertford Regional College to promote employability skills.
Held at Broxbourne Housing Association’s offices in Hoddesdon, the presentations were part of a ten week ‘Aim 2 Achieve’ programme offering young people the chance to practice mock interviews and undertake work placements.
This fantastically positive and progressive event was organised by none other that Phil Stock and Pam Crook, the E2E Project Team at Hertford Regional College.
Three groups each prepared and presented their pitch to the Dragons for an enterprise based on a service or product of their choice. Although the Dragons were initially looking for a winner among the groups, they felt the standard was so high and the competition so close, they decided to award each group a £50 prize.
The Dragons were: Steven Johnson from Garden Barber Ltd; Stacey Holmes from Snip and Clip; Loretta Borg, Volunteer Bureau Broxbourne; Pam Crook, Hertford Regional College; Nicci Statham, Chief Executive from Get Connected; Mark Golby, YMCA and John Giesen, Chief Executive, Broxbourne Housing Association.
One of the Dragon’s, Broxbourne Housing Association’s Chief Executive John Giesen said:
“The Dragons were really impressed with the quality of the presentations and the young people’s professionalism and enthusiasm. It was great to be involved in an initiative supporting young people and helps them build confidence and business skills'
