Exolve & Step Out in Style
Even in tough times, businesses support local unemployed
On Friday 27th March 2009, Sue Hutchinson from Exolve Ltd and Michelle Hewitt from Step Out in Style gave their valuable time to support local unemployed individuals
The Marriott Hotel in Cheshunt provided dedicated rooms for Michelle Hewitt (Personal Image Consultant, Step Out in Style) and Sue Hutchinson (HR Consultant, Exolve Ltd) to give their valuable time in providing structured sessions of image advice and mock interviews.
The projects were an employability initiative organised through a partnership between Get Connected and the Volunteer Centre for Broxbourne & East Herts.
Nicci Statham, Chief Executive of Get Connected commented, “Get Connected exists to engage local businesses in community activities, however the willingness and dedication from Sue, Michelle and the Marriott Cheshunt really showed local commitment. This is such a pioneering example of how small and local businesses can work in partnership in their local communities..."
Sue Hutchinson, HR Consultant for Exolve said, “I was pleased to give time to work on this project providing practical assistance for unemployed persons. All the participants engaged with the process and found it to be a beneficial experience. I hope the guidance will significantly aid their path to employment..."
Michelle Hewitt, Personal Image Consultant said, “`I chose to give time to this project because as an image consultant I understand how important image can be to an individual - and more crucially when they are planning on returning to the workplace either in a voluntary or paid capacity..."
Loretta Borg, Volunteer Centre Manager commented, “the Volunteer Centre supports people to make positive changes by providing employability training, coaching & mentoring and access to work experience. Development of this dimension to our programme, we believe, is unique and having companies give their time to support individuals is pretty amazing in this current economic climate..."
