Tesco Staff get ‘Chatting’ in Community Project!
Tesco Staff very satisfied after the ‘Chit Chat’ area is pulled together at St Catherine's
8 Tesco head office staff based at the retailer’s offices in Welwyn Garden City joined St Catherine’s School in Hoddesdon on Wednesday 4th November to revamp a under-used and neglected ‘Chit Chat’ area for the 300 strong primary school.
The project was yet another dedicated team from the retailer, getting out and giving in the community as part of Tesco’s commitment to it's local community.
Staff from the Human Resources team at head office left their desks for the day, accepted the challenge and spent the day clearing and planting!

This project was a fanastic collaboration between us here at Get Connected, Tesco staff and St Catherine’s School. The project is part of a programme of projects the school needed doing to enable accessibility to their outdoor spaces.

The Chit Chat area has been revamped to provide a quiet, tranquil space for children who would like to sit and chat rather that play on the school field.
Val Hassett, Resourcing Manager for Tesco said, "The team really enjoyed the challenge. It was great to do something to support the local community and benefit the children of St Catherine's. We were delighted with the amount we managed to achieve during the day and hope the children can now enjoy and have fun in the chit chat area."
Wayne Howsen, head teacher at St Catherine's commented, "I was amazed at how fantastic both the chit chat area and other flowerbeds looked - an incredible transformation!"
We presented each member of Tesco staff with a certificate at the end of the long day to acknowledge their valued contribution to the Broxbourne community.
