100 strong Tesco Team get connected for Rural Charity

Over 100 staff from Tesco Mobile and Tesco Telecoms joined the staff and volunteers at Sunnyside Rural Trust on 20th September 2011 to enable a number of projects to be completed at the charity's Northchurch site.

The day was part of Tesco's commitment to local community initiatives. Staff left their desks for the day, accepted the mamoth challenge and spent the day constructing, planting and painting.

The project between Tesco staff and the charity was to complete much needed develop of their horticultural growing areas. The work completed by the Tesco team was part of the charity's 2-3 year plan - enabling their long-term plans to be pushed ahead in one day!

The projects included planting over 70 trees - something which would have taken the charity nealry half a year to do themselves. The team also dug over and constructed a soft fruit cage enabling this large area to be used as an orchard.
